Hijab Row: Sec 144 imposed in Shivamogga after stone pelting incident

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been imposed in Shivamogga till February 9 after students pelted stones at the government first-grade college in the city on Tuesday.
As per reports, police had to resort to lathi-charge to control the situation. To avoid any further escalation of the issue Tahsildar NJ Nagaraj issued the prohibitory orders as a preventive measure.
Meanwhile, violent protests have been reported in parts of the state as groups of students wearing saffron shawls and hijab have been sloganeering against each other.
