Bengaluru: In a horrific murder, an elderly couple was found dead in their villa in Eagleton The Golf Village at Bidadi locality of Bengaluru on Tuesday.

Raghurajan (70), who was a retired Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot, and his wife Asha (63) were bludgeoned to death in their bed, police said.

The couple lived alone in the villa as their children lived in New Delhi for work. They hired help for various errands around the house, reports said.

Based on initial investigations police suspect that the murders may have been carried out by one of the servants named Joginder Singh for material gains. Security guards who first saw the dead bodies found Joginder in the house when they had come to check on the couple.

The killings came to light on Tuesday when the son of the couple asked the security guards to check on his parents who weren’t answering their phones. When the security guards entered the premises at around 2 pm, Joginder Singh was in the house, who told them that the couple had gone to Bengaluru in the morning leaving him alone to look after the villa.

However, the son of the couple got suspicious about this and asked the guards to check again. But when the guards returned Joginder reportedly ran away. Security guards told police that they saw another person running along with Joginder.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case and efforts are on to trace the suspects involved. The mortal remains have been sent for post mortem examination.
