Mandya: Woman arrested for killing lover’s wife, children

Mandya: Police officials have arrested a 32-year-old woman for allegedly killing her lover’s wife and four children in Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) area of Mandya district.
The arrested accused has been identified as Lakshmi, a resident of Mysuru. She is a cousin of the murdered woman, who is also named Lakshmi. The victim’s children who were killed are identified as Komala (8), Raj (10) and Kunal (5), her nephew Govinda (13) was killed too.
The accused Lakshmi, after the cold-blooded act in KRS village in Srirangapatna taluk had attended the funeral. She also wept and created drama in front of dead bodies to divert suspicion, a police official said.
According to police, accused Lakshmi had an illicit relationship with victim’s husband named Gangaram.
The accused who stayed back in the house of Gangaram, had hacked and killed Gangaram’s wife and children with a machete she brought from a poultry shop.
Police suspect that she would have laced their food with substances that made them unconscious, and also given them poison also, and are awaiting a postmortem report.
According to police Gangaram’s wife had objected to his illicit relationship and asked him to stay away from her . The accused was possessive of Gangaram and decided to get rid of his wife and children to get married to him.
She decided to kill the family when Gangaram went to another place. The police who took up the investigation suspected the accused and after questioning, she confessed to the crime. Further investigation is on.
