M’luru: Notorious criminals Akashbhavan Sharan and Pinky Nawaz booked under Goonda Act

Mangaluru: Two of Mangaluru’s most notorious criminals under the Goonda Act, police said on February 10.

Police in a release said that Goognda Act has been slapped on Rohidas alias Akashbhavan Sharan and Surathkal Pinki Nawaz for the purpose of “maintenance of peace in public and prevention of anti-social activities.”

Akashbhavan Sharan, a career criminal, has 20 outstanding serious criminal cases against him including murder, attempt to murder, rape, child sexual abuse, extortion, and dacoity. He was recently booked in the case of Bantwal Surendra’s murder. He was a puppet master who instigated and planned several crimes while in prison, the police said.

Beginning in 2015, Pinky Nawaz is an accused in 13 cases so far. He is accused of instigating communal riots using a WhatsApp group. He is also accused of planning to kill a local corporator. At present, he is lodged in Mysuru central jail.

Incidentally, City police commissioner N Shashikumar had recently withdrawn 1250 rowdy sheets in the city.
