Bengaluru: A 10-year-old girl who had slipped into a coma due to an accident caused by a tree branch fall on March 2020 breathed her last on Thursday.
On March 11, 2020, the victim Rachel Prisha was riding pillion with her father when a dry tree branch suddenly fell on her head. She sustained a fatal injury and was rushed to Manipal hospital for treatment. Despite the best efforts of doctors, she slipped into coma.
The girls’ parents had blamed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for the incident citing that it is the responsibility of the civic agency to remove dry branches of trees.
Former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy visited the hospital and paid his condolences to the bereaved family. “Am really pained by Rachael’s demise. Had visited her earlier and spent time with her. I was hoping that she would recover. BBMP should stop this kind of tragedies at least in future,” Kumaraswamy tweeted.
The incident has drawn sharp reactions from the public and BBMP is being slammed for its negligence on social platforms.
