Mangaluru: The administration has woken up at last as the broken plastic traffic cones that were endangering motorists are being removed.

The traffic cones fixed for aiding smooth traffic flow had become dangerous after being broken at several places in the city.

Udayavani had published a photo story about the issue on February 10. The traffic police had assured to remove the cones at the earliest and the work has now begun.

The series of broken cones on the road in front of the Medicare center at Bunts Hostel has been completely taken out. The bolts dangerously protruding from the concrete road at Balmatta Collector’s Gate have also been unscrewed.

The broken cones in other parts of the city, including Karangalpady, will be done in the next one week, said ACP (traffic) M Nataraj.
