Bengaluru: Mangaluru MLA UT Khader, on Tuesday, alleged that Karnataka High Court’s interim order on Hijab row was being infringed at the primary and high schools in the state.

Khader raised the issue during the zero-hour discussion during the ongoing joint session of the Karnataka Assembly. “High Court order is clear that the restriction s apply only to colleges with a prescribed dress code. But students are prevented from wearing hijabs even in primary and high schools,” he said.

The school teachers are also made to remove their hijabs and this has created confusion in the education system in the state, he added and demanded clarification about the matter.

As Education Minister B C Nagesh was absent during the proceedings, Minister of Law, Parliamentary Affairs, and Legislation JC Madhuswamy answered Khader’s query and said that the state government will obey the high court’s orders.

Dissatisfied by the answer given members of the opposition demanded a discussion, however, Speaker of the Assembly Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri did not allow it.
