Gujarat: Special court awards death sentence to 38 convicts in 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts case.

Of the 49 convicts in the case, 38 were awarded the death penalty whereas 11 got life imprisonment, reported ANI.

Earlier, the special court in Gujarat had convicted the 49 accused in the case and acquitted 28 others on February 8.

On July 26, 2008, around 21 bombs exploded in Ahmedabad in a span of an hour, killing 56 persons and injuring several others. As per reports, Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami, an Islamic terror outfit had claimed the responsibility for the blasts.
