Veteran Kannada actor ‘Kalatapasvi’ Rajesh passes away

Bengaluru: Veteran Kannada actor “Kalatapasvi’ Rajesh passed away in the wee hours of February 19. He was 89.

Rajesh suffered from age-related ailments and breathing issues and was admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru on February 9. But he passed away today, without responding to treatment, sources said.

Rajesh was born on April 15, 1932, and his parents named him Muni Chowdappa. While performing in theatres he took the stage name of Vidyasagar and later adopted Rajesh as his name in movies. Beginning his movie career in 1960, he has acted and performed various roles in Kannada cinema and earned the monicker “Kalatapasvi.”

His mortal remains will be kept at his residence in Vidyaranyapura till 6 pm for people to pay their last respects, sources said.
