Karwar: Interstate ATM card thief arrested from Mumbai

Karwar: Ankola police arrested a man who stole ATM cards of customers and withdrew money from their bank accounts from Mumbai’s Kurla.

The arrested Vijay alias Angadaprasad Dwivedi (34) is a native of Uttar Pradesh and currently resides in Mumbai.

A complaint was filed against the accused by a person, resident of Bole in Ankola on December 28 last year stating that a man entered the SBI ATM kiosk while he was using the ATM and managed to steal his card after diverting his attention. Later a sum of Rs 44,000 was withdrawn from his account, he said.

A police team probing the case traced the accused and arrested him recently. They seized Rs 42,000 and a car from his possession.

According to the police, Dwivedi was involved in similar cases.
