Puttur: Man arrested for allegedly raping mentally challenged girl

Puttur: A man was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a mentally challenged girl.

The accused, Chandrashekhar (57) of Bandaje, for raping the girl at Kaniyooru near here.

As per the complaint registered by the brother of the victim, the incident happened on a hillock next to their house. On the day of the incident, the brother had gone to Charvaka, leaving his sister alone at home.

But when he returned, his sister was nowhere to be found, and he began to search for her. Later she was found walking from the hillock next to the house.

The victim said Chandrashekhar threatened her to come to the hillock, the complaint alleges.

Based on the complaint, the accused has been arrested.
