Mangaluru: The Criminal investigation department (CID) has initiated a probe against the ‘Mangalore Muslims’ Facebook (FB) page for allegedly posting derogatory content about the brutal murder of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha.

The cybercrime division of the Bengaluru South division had registered a suo motu FIR against Ateeq Shariff from Bengaluru and the administrator of ‘Mangalore Muslims’ on February 23 after its posts went viral on social media.

The infamous ‘Mangalore Muslims’ Facebook page has in the past too come under the scanner for alleged provocative posts against Hindutva outfits and Hindu political leaders.

Back in 2016, the page had been blocked over a post on Kateel temple goddess Durgaparameshwari but the group had opened a FB page with a new profile name.
