After spending 3 hours and 28 minutes on ice, a Polish endurance enthusiast has established a new Guinness World Record.

Valerjan Romanovski plunged into a glass tank and stayed in full contact with the ice for 208 minutes.

The previous record was held by Romain Vandendorpe of France, who swam on ice for 2 hours, 35 minutes, and 33 seconds.

According to Guinness World Records, Valerjan broke the record after six months of training.

Valerjan said, “I have been dealing with the cold for several years. Half a year before the record, there was a decision made to try my strengths in this discipline. I did a few pieces of training after which I decided that the record was within reach,”

Further adding, “I approach the human body in a scientific way. I do believe that the potential of the body, and above all mind, is much greater than what we all assume,”

Valerjan puts his endurance to the test in a variety of ways. He is a cyclist who holds the Guinness World Record for cycling the most distance off-road in 12 hours (male) – 314.65 kilometers.

Valerjan’s body temperature was monitored with an in-ear thermometer while he was inside the glass box. If the temperature had plummeted to a dangerous level, he would have been pulled from the ice immediately.

After 165 minutes, Valerjan was trembling violently. But he persisted, eventually breaking the world record.
