Kundapur: Woman dies after saving child from speeding truck

Kundapur: A 35-year-old woman died after she was run over by a speeding truck while saving her child on a National Highway at Hemmadi on Sunday, March 13. Her husband and child have sustained injuries in the mishap.

The deceased has been identified as Jyothi, a resident of Ragihaklu near Arehole Yerukone.

Jyothi was riding pillion along with her child on her husband’s scooter Sharath when a speeding truck hit their vehicle.

Due to the impact, Jyothi and Sharath fell off the vehicle, Jyothi who was holding a child was quick to toss him to safety. She, however, got crushed under its wheels.

Traffic police officials visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
