How far would you be willing to go to meet your spouse living in a distant land? Some may say they would be willing to go “saath samandar paar.” But a Vietnamese man seems to have taken the lyrics of the popular Hindi love ballad literally.
Ho Hoang Hung, a 37-year-old Vietnamese man, was frustrated after being separated from his wife for two years due to the pandemic. Unwilling to wait any longer, He tried to reunite with his wife in a distant India on a rafting boat.
According to reports, Ho tried to paddle 2,000 kilometers (1,240 miles) on an inflatable boat from Phuket, Thailand. He was planning to cross the Bay of Bengal in the middle of a cyclone to reach Mumbai, where his wife reportedly worked.
Authorities in Thailand have rescued a man who attempted to paddle on an inflatable boat from Phuket to India to reunite with his wife, after being apart for two years due to the pandemic.

Ho had initially flown to Bangkok but couldn’t manage a flight to India. So, he took a bus to Phuket and bought an inflatable raft and a few supplies to complete the journey to India. Fortunately, he was rescued by the authorities in Thailand.
The man was found with no map, compass, GPS, or change of clothes. A limited amount of water and some packets of instant noodles is all they could find in the dingy, the Thai Authorities who rescued him were quoted as saying.
