Bengaluru: Woman gives away KYC details, loses Rs 70,000 in cyber fraud

Bengaluru: A woman lost Rs 70,000 in a cyber fraud when an accused stole her bank account details on the pretext of updating the ‘know your customer’ (KYC) details in Bengaluru.
The victim has been identified as Preethi, a resident of BTM Layout.
In her complaint, Preethi said that she had received a text message from an unknown number informing her that she needs to update her KYC details immediately. She was asked to click a link given in the message.
Preethi clicked on the link and updated her bank account details. Soon after, the suspect stole her card details and fraudulently withdrew Rs 70,429 from her account.
She lodged a complaint in CEN south division Police Station. Further investigations are underway.
