Bengaluru: Two women offering massage to relieve body aches to a home-alone elderly woman ended up fleeing with her gold jewelry at Vijayanagara here.
On March 19, the victim Mayamma (65) had gone to the market for purchasing essential household items. While returning home she came across two women who offered to give a body massage that would help alleviate muscle/joint pain for a nominal charge at the customer’s residence.
As Mayamma had been suffering from joint pain for a long time, she took up their offer. The duo then accompanied Mayamma to her residence and applied oil to her back and leg. They then asked her to remove the gold chain that she was wearing so they can start with the massage.
An unsuspecting Mayamma removed the chain and reportedly kept it in the hall. Later the accused told her that they require another chair to massage her legs and under the pretext of fetching the chair from the other room, the duo escaped with the gold chain.
After realizing that she was duped, the woman registered a case with Vijayanagar Police. The duo’s act has been caught on CCTV camera and an investigation is underway
