Karkala: In yet another man-conflict witnessed in the district, a Gaur entered residential areas of the Neere Village here on Tuesday, creating a panic among locals.

The massive Indian Bison entered the courtyard of Leelavati Poojarthi of Muliyakkaru at around 1.30 PM on Tuesday from the adjoining reserved forest near Neere Bailur. Though the homeowners tried to drive the wild animal away, it was in vain.

Thereafter, the neighbors informed the gram panchayat officials about the presence of the Gaur. The forest department team was dispatched to assist in the rescue drive.

As the bison was starting to get riled up due to the commotion, the forest department officials decided to sedate the animal. Once the animal was sedated, it was transported away from the village to the Kudremukh Reserve Forest and released.
