Bengaluru: While the Hijab row and ban on Muslim vendors on the temple premises is yet to settle down, the right-wing Hindu groups have sought to boycott the ‘Halal’ meat and its products. Following the controversy on the issue, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra warned that strict action will be taken against those spreading hate content on social media platforms.

Addressing presspersons he said, “The Karnataka police are monitoring all the social media platforms. Strict action will be taken against those who try to disturb communal harmony by posting controversial statements.”

“While people of one religion are saying that they won’t sell non-halal food, the other religion people say that their god doesn’t accept those eating halal food. This issue should be resolved as soon as possible,” he added.

Halal is particularly associated with Islamic dietary laws and especially meat processed and prepared in accordance with those requirements.

Earlier, BJP general secretary C T Ravi, had sought a ban and described that ‘halal’ meat as ‘economic Jihad’ perpetrated by the minority community
