Bengaluru: Legislative Council Chairman and senior JDS MLC Basavaraj Horatti on Sunday said that he will join Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the 2023 polls.

Speaking to the reporters, Horatti said, “Several discussions have been held with the senior Ministers. I have decided to join BJP and will release an official statement soon after the elections are announced. I have also discussed the issue with Former Chief Minister Kumaraswamy.”

Earlier, Basavaraj Horatti had denied claims of him joining the party and said that he is not thinking of joining any party as of now.

Sources claim that in order to continue as the Legislative Council chairman, Horatti will need the support of the BJP.  It will be easy for Horatti to continue in the chair if he becomes the official candidate of the BJP for the West Teachers’ constituency.
