Uppinangady: Two held for moral policing, assaulting Muslim youth

Uppinangady: A case has been filed against a group of men suspected to be belonging to a Hindu organization for allegedly assaulting a Muslim youth and threatening him for traveling with a girl of other faith.
The accused are Surendra, Theertaprasad, Jithesh, and others.
Of the accused, two persons identified as Balachandra (35) and Ranjith (31), both residents of Siribagilu, Kadaba Taluk, have been taken into custody
The incident took place at Derane of Siribagilu village of Kadaba taluk on Tuesday, when the complainant Nazir, a resident of Puttur was traveling with his girlfriend in an auto-rickshaw.
The accused who waylaid their auto-rickshaw questioned him if he wants a Hindu girl to roam around with. They later allegedly assaulted him first with their hands and then picked a stick on the roadside and hit him and threatened to kill him if was seen moving around with girls from another faith in the future.
They reportedly scolded the girl too.
A police case under registration No. 47/2022 section 143, 147, 341, 504, 323, 324, 506, 153(a), R/W 149 IPC is registered at Uppinangady police station in this connection.
