Bengaluru: A 22-year-old youth was brutally stabbed to death by three youths for “not speaking Urdu,” home minister Araga Jnanedra said.

Addressing presspersons Araga Jnanendra said that he had collected information about the murder of a youth that took place in Bengaluru’s JJ Nagar police station limits.

The deceased is Chandru, a resident of Jaimaruthinagar. The accused are Shahid Pasha(21), Shahid Goli (22), and a juvenile.

Case details:

Chandru, an ITI graduate had attended his friend Saimon’s birthday party on Monday. At around 12:30 AM, they went out to have a chicken roll.

As they passed by Haleguddadahalli, their bike collided with Shahid Pasha’s bike, who picked up an argument.

The argument took an ugly turn when Shahid called his two other friends and stabbed Chandru.

Chandru, who had been brutally beaten, was taken to the hospital, where he breathed his last.

The incident was caught on a CCTV camera. The CCTV footage shows Chandru being brutally stabbed by the accused Shahid Pasha and his friends, who brandished swords and knives. The victim was also seen pleading with the accused to let him go.

My statement was wrong: Araga Jnanendra

The conflicting statements by Home Minister Araga Jnanendra and Police Commissioner Kamal Pant about the reason for the murder created a lot of confusion. Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had questioned the inconsistency in the statements.

Following this, Araga Jnanendra issued a statement that his comments about the incident were not correct. He also tendered an apology for his comments without checking their veracity.
