Mangaluru: An in-charge nodal officer in the health department has been accused of harassing women colleagues who had previously leveled sexual harassment charges against the then district leprosy officer here in Mangaluru
As per a IANS report, the victims have demanded the appointment of a female superior officer in his place.
The sexual harassment of the victims had come to light after videos of the accused person Dr Ratnakar surfaced on social media. Acting on the complaint lodged by a social activist, Dr Ratnakar was arrested by the police and the district administration suspended him based on the report by a committee of the state health department in November, 2021. Meanwhile, the accused had approached the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) and got the suspension lifted.
Dr Ratnakar was however transferred to Kundapur and an in-charge officer was appointed in his place. The victims are now alleging harassment by this person for complaining against the accused.
