Harsha murder case: Case against Eshwarappa for issuing provocative statement

Acting on the directions of the High court, Doddapete police have lodged an FIR against Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K.S. Eshwarappa and Shivamogga BJP corporator Channabasappa for issuing provoking statements following the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha.
The police had initially refused to lodge the complaint by Shivamogga resident Riyaz Ahmad. He, however, approached the High Court and sought directions for the police to lodge an FIR in connection with the case.
Ahmad in his complaint stated that because of the communal incitement and statements of provocation by Minister Eshwarappa, Shivamogga city witnessed violence after the murder of Harsha.
Following Harsha’s murder, Eshwarappa had said “Musalmaan goondas have killed Harsha”.
