Govt should find a political solution to Kashmiri Pandit issue: Prakash Belawadi

Mangaluru: The union government should find a suitable political solution to the Kashmiri Pandit issue so that the Pandits, who have been living away from their homeland for more than 32 years now, can return to the valley and lead a normal life there, said actor Prakash Belawadi.

The actor from the recent hit film “The Kashmir Files” was speaking at the seminar titled “Kashmir Files: Reel and Real” held as part of the fourth edition of the Mangaluru Lit Fest here on Saturday.

Belawadi said steps should be taken for the return of the pundits back to Kashmir and added that he strongly believes it is possible for the Modi-led government to do so.

It is up to the Kashmiri pandits to decide whether to keep or sell their properties. If the government fails to return their properties, they should be suitably compensated. They should also be paid a recompense for the hardships they have faced in the past 32 years, Belawadi said.
