India’s second National Ayush Sports Medicine Centre under the National Ayush Mission will soon be inaugurated in the city soon.

As part of the national Ayush mission, the Union ministry of Ayush has approved the proposal, and sanctioned Rs 2.5 crore for this centre.

The first Ayush sports medicine centre with advanced treatment facilities for sportsmen and sportswomen in the country was set up few years ago at Thrissur.

The centre will be opened with the support of the state and central governments.

Athletes from across the country will be provided with healthcare and fitness guidance from Ayush experts.

The centre coming up in Mangaluru will combine Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy to help sportspersons, along with treating sports injuries.

It will start functioning shortly either at the Ayush centre at Hat Hill or at the government Ayush multi-speciality hospital on the Wenlock Hospital premises.
