Mangaluru: Organizations protest against electricity price hike

Bejai: Several organizations held protests on Monday against the government’s decision to hike the electricity tariff.

The protest rally was jointly organized by DYFI, SFI, and JMS in front of the MESCOM office near Bejai.

Addressing the rally, the DYFI district president B K Imtiyaz said that by hiking electricity prices, the government has multiplied the problems of the common man who is already bearing the brunt of inflation due to fuel price hikes.

He alleged that the ruling dispensation of diverting attention from real issues affecting the masses by promoting caste and communal polarization.

DYFI District Secretary Santosh Bajal also echoed similar sentiments and demanded the immediate rollback of the hike announced. Bharati Bolara, District President of Janavadi Mahila Sanghtane also spoke on the occasion.
