A 56-year-old man, a former serviceman was found dead at his residence in Goutham Colony, Domlur on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Suresh.
As per preliminary police investigations, Suresh’s assailants must have blinded him by throwing chilli powder at his face and then hit him on the head with a blunt metal object. It is suspected that a property dispute with his relatives must have led to the murder.
Suresh was a divorcee and was living at the residence with his ailing mother who passed away recently. A domestic help hired to take care of his mother continued to work for Suresh even after the latter’s death.
As per a DHNS report, the domestic help had directed her nephew to have food delivered to Suresh through Dunzo in her absence. On the day of the incident, phone calls to Suresh for collecting the delivery went unanswered and thus the maid’s nephew contacted a neighbour to check on him.
When the neighbour went to his house, he noticed that the door was open and was shocked to see Suresh lying in a pool of blood with chilli powder splintered all around.
As there were no signs of a forced entry, police suspect that the assailant was known to Suresh. The assailants had ransacked the house but it is not certain if they stole something from the scene, police informed.
