Mangaluru: The Facebook account of prominent orthopedic surgeon Dr. Shantharam Shetty has reportedly been hacked and a fake account has been created to cheat unsuspecting persons.
Dr. Shetty registered a complaint in this regard with the cybercrime police on Tuesday.
The existence of the fake account came to light when some of the doctor’s Facebook friends reportedly started receiving messages asking to signup for forex trading schemes. The friends called the surgeon and informed him about this anomaly.
The fake account has an old picture of the surgeon as its profile picture, the complaint says.
Meanwhile, cybercrime police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
