Shootout during KGF 2 screening: Two teams formed to nab absconding accused

Haveri police have intensified their search for an absconding accused who opened fire at a fellow moviegoer during the screening of ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ at the Rajashree cinema in Shigawi here on Tuesday night.

The accused had reportedly fired three shots, one in the air and two on the stomach of the victim Vasanthkumar Shivapur of Mugali village. The shootout had created a panic among the moviegoers and they ran out of the theatre fearing for their lives.

Following this incident, SP Hanumantharaya visited the crime scene on Wednesday. Forensic experts and a canine squad inspected the scene and two teams have been formed to nab the absconding accused. The theatre meanwhile remains closed to the public.

Police have expressed confidence in nabbing the accused soon and are checking the details of all licensed gun holders in the district.
