Bengaluru / Hubballli: The detection of the highly transmissible BA.2 variant of Omicron in Bengaluru recently, has raised fears of a fourth wave in the state. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, on Sunday, said that further instructions on Covid management will be issued after the video conference with chief ministers called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 27.

Speaking to reporters in Hubballi, the Chief Minister said that experts have suggested adopting suitable precautionary steps based on the learnings from past Covid waves. The central government has also issued an alert, he said.

The number of cases in Kerala and Maharashtra has increased slightly in the past 8 to 10 days, he said, and added that the government will issue clear Covid management guidelines after the meeting with the Prime Minister.

He also cautioned the public to be careful. “The Covid second wave began slowly, but later exploded suddenly,” he said.
