Bengaluru: Rumour mills in official circles suggest that the transfer of the Bengaluru Police commissioner is imminent.
The IPS officer is claimed to be a close associate of former chief minister B S Yediyurappa. Despite this, many ministers in the current government are dissatisfied with Pant’s performance. There were calls for his transfer, but they were ignored, sources said.
Pant’s Tweet on the Chandru murder case may have tilted the case for his imminent transfer. Now, with pressure mounting from BJP leaders, the transfer has become almost a certainty, sources added.
According to police sources, discussions are in full swing for Pant’s replacement. ADGP Dayanand of the intelligence department and KSRP ADGP Alok Kumar seem to be the most favored to be elevated, sources added.
The state government is also in the process of discussing changes to the postings of IGPs and district police superintendents to ease the administration in view of the elections and it is said that the order will be issued soon.
