Veteran actress Harini extended cordial welcome at Udayavani

Manipal: Harini, Senior actress-producer and daughter of freedom fighter S U Paniyadi was cordially received on her recent visit to the Udayavani office in Manipal on Friday.

Mr. Vinod Kumar, the Managing Director and CEO of Manipal Media Network Ltd accorded her a traditional welcome with a shawl and souvenir. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kumar expressed his happiness at the opportunity to welcome the veteran actress Harini, who holds a close connection with the organization. He recalled the close bond of S U Paniyadi with the Udayavani. It is remarkable that the late S U Paniyadi was the founder of Manipal Press.  His contribution to the freedom struggle and Tulu language culture was significant.

In her address, Harini thanked the management and team at Udayavani for having given her an opportunity to converse in her mother tongue once again. “I am satisfied to have spent some time with all of you,” said Harini.

On behalf of the Tulu Koota, President Indrali Jayakar Shetty and Secretary Gangadhar Kidiyoor honored the veteran actress.

Indrali Jayakar Shetty said that Paniyadi’s life is an example of how to achieve something great in life. In his memory, Tulu Koota has been presenting Paniyadi Award to achievers in the Tulu fraternity for the past 27 years. He also invited Harini to pay a visit next year for the award ceremony.

Sarvajna, the son of the head of Udayavani’s founding editorial division Bannanja Ramachandra was present on the occasion.
