Bengaluru: Man posing as RAW officer cheats woman of Rs 89 lakh

Bengaluru: A 33-year-old man who was posing as a fake RAW agent and claimed to work in the Prime Minister’s Office has been arrested by the Bellandur police officials.

The arrested accused has been identified as Arahanth Mohan Kumar Lakkavalli, a resident of Rajajinagar IV block and a native of Shivamogga. He works as a realtor.

It is said that the accused met the victim Sonul Saxena (31), a software developer in a flight to Kuala Lumpur in 2019. After a brief exchange, the victim had told him that her visa application to Italy and the Czech Republic has been rejected.

The accused promised to help her and kept in touch with her for over three years. During this period, he said that her visa was blocked as she was suspected in a terror case. He demanded Rs 6 crore to remove her name from the list.

The victim transferred Rs 89 lakh to various accounts over a period of three years. The accused also took her to the Whitefield police station and the CID office to get the required clearances. He asked her to sit in the waiting area and disappeared with her passport.

The victim then realized she has been cheated and filed a complaint. Following this, the accused was arrested.
