Bengaluru: Making India a “knowledge-based superpower” is the goal of the Narendra Modi-led Union government, said Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah on Tuesday.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the Nrupatunga University here on Tuesday.

Making India a global power and providing a bright future for the Indian youth are the foremost priorities of the Union government, the home minister said and added that the new National Education Policy (NEP) has been tailored to bring about these revolutionary changes.

He commended the Karnataka government for being the first in the nation to adopt the NEP curriculum.

Amit Shah said that students are the future of the country, and urged them to cultivate a culture of patriotism.

Shah said that patriotic education, with a completely Indian perspective, will be provided in the NEP. He asserted that in the next 25 years, the country will make immense progress. “India is certain to be the world leader (vishwaguru),” he said.
