Muslim Defence Force being investigated: Mangaluru Police Commissioner

Mangaluru: The police have been gathering information on the Muslim Defense Force (MDF) that is trying to promote Taliban-like culture in the state, Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said.
Posts on social media platforms were observed int he recent months that warned Muslim women to wear burkha, threatening Muslim women and their families, he told reporters on Thursday.
Such messages have been found on Instagram and WhatsApp, and information is being gathered on the culprits behind the posts, he added.
The Compol also said that activities of those using foreign SIM cards to post provocative messages are also being tracked.
Though no complaint has been raised, the police have taken suo moto action to trace the suspects behind MDF, he added.
Some individuals seem to have banded together on social media, to fashion MDF. There are no clues as to whether these individuals have a definite organizational structure. However, the MDF promotes and advocates fundamentalist ideals in their posts, threatening women and their families.
