A 32-year-old man who attended an Eid party hosted by a jewellery shop worker for his friends ended up swallowing jewellery worth Rs 1.45 lakh.

As per a News18 report, Rahul (name changed) a boyfriend of one of the invitees at the party enjoyed a sumptuous feast, and allegedly, a few drinks too. In a drunken stupor, he then stole the jewellery from the host’s house.

Once the party ended the host noticed that a gold chain, a diamond pendant, and a diamond necklace were missing from the house. Upon enquiring he learnt that Rahul was unemployed and thus suspected him of theft. He lodged a police complaint in this regard.

Rahul confessed to swallowing the jewellery during police questioning and an X-ray scan confirmed this. Doctors then gave him enema and a heavy dose of laxatives to recover the ornaments.

According to the report, the host withdrew the complaint after she received her jewellery back.
