Excise Deputy Commissioner caught accepting bribe, held

Chitradurga: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Wednesday caught red-handed Excise department deputy commissioner Nagashayana while taking a bribe of Rs 2.28 lakh from a person for the renewal of a bar license.

The complainant Babu Reddy, a former ZP member and owner of the Durgada Siri hotel alleged that the Excise Deputy Commissioner had demanded a bribe of Rs 3.28 lakh for the renewal of the Bar license.

On the basis of the complaint, a team of ACB officials under the guidance of Davangere ACB DySP Manjunath laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe money from the complainant

As per a TNIE report, the accused was produced before the court which remanded him to 15 days judicial custody.
