CM Bommai meets Amit Shah; discusses local body elections, Cabinet expansion

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Union Minister Prahlad Joshi met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday and held discussions on the issue of Cabinet expansion, BBMP, and local bodies elections in the state.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, CM Bommai said that he has apprised Shah of the state of affairs in the state. “The cabinet expansion can take place anytime, the next week is crucial. A decision will be taken with party interest in mind.

Following Supreme Court’s directive, election to local bodies has become inevitable. This election will be held before the Assembly election in the state and Amit Shah has asked to give due attention to this,” he said

On the issue of Cabinet expansion, Bommai said a decision will be arrived at after consultation with JP Nadda.

Bommai is expected to visit JP Nadda’s residence at around 5 pm today. Sources said that the cabinet rejig is likely to take place on Monday
