New Delhi: A request has been submitted to hand over a 700-acre defence land in Belagavi to the state government, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday.
The request was raised with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during the Chief Minister’s visit to New Delhi. “The defense minister has responded positively,” Bommai added.
He said that the grassland, presently under the control of the Defense Ministry, will be converted into an IT park. “There is a proposal for setting up an IT park in Belagavi. State government needs the defense land for that purpose, and a request has been raised,” the Bommai said.
The defense minister has promised to hold talks with the stakeholders and take an appropriate decision on the matter, the CM added.
Bommai said the defence minister has been invited to the opening ceremony of the Sangolli Rayanna Military School in Belagavi.
