In a shocking incident, a 31-year-old man died due to a minor knife wound he sustained during an argument with his business partner over EMI payments.
The deceased Jayakumar, a resident of Thanisandra was working for a BPO company. He along with his friend Rahil a hotel management graduate had planned to open a restaurant and for this purpose, they took a Rs 19 lakh bank loan in name of Jayakumar’s wife. This month however Rahil had defaulted on the EMI payment.
Jayakumar raised this issue with Rahil when they met at his flat on Thursday when they were discussing their business growth plans. A verbal altercation began between the two and in the spur of the moment Rahil slashed at Jayakumar’s chest with a kitchen knife. Rahil’s flatmates intervened and stopped the fight.
Jayakumar did not bother about the stabbing as there was only a minor injury and slept at Rahil’s flat. Nearly an hour later when others tried to wake up Jayakumar he remained unresponsive and thus they rushed him to a doctor who declared him dead on arrival.
The police were notified of the incident but they found it shocking that Jayakumar died of a minor cut and enquired if the death could be caused by other reasons. Doctors explained that Jayakumar had died of intensive internal bleeding as the knife cut a crucial nerve.
Rahil has been detained by the police for questioning and a case has been registered against him.
