Mangaluru: Court acquits man accused in POCSO case

‎Mangaluru: A‎‎ court in the city acquitted a man accused of raping a minor after the DNA report revealed no relation between the girl’s child and the man..

‎The second additional FTSC district sessions court acquitted Akshat, who had been accused of sexually assaulting the minor.

It was alleged that Akshat had sexually assaulted the girl in 2019 at her residence at Ashoknagar in Dharmasthala, resulting in her pregnancy. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under section 376 of the POCSO act and other relevant provisions of IPC.

However, the DNA report stated otherwise. According to the report there was no biological relationship between the accused and the child.

After hearing the arguments and evidence presented the judge held the accused not guilty of the crimes charged and acquitted him of all charges.
