Kundapur: Gram panchayat president loses life in road mishap

Kundapur: The president of Kalothodu gram panchayat was reportedly killed in a road mishap at Murooru on Tuesday, May 17.

The deceased, identified as Lalitha Shetty (55), was returning home for lunch after attending a gram panchayat meeting, riding a pillion on a bike.

At Murooru, the bike skidded, and Lalitha was thrown onto the road. She was rushed to a hospital in Kundapur with severe head injuries. Doctors at the hospital later declared her dead, reports said.

After being elected to the Kalothodu Gram Panchayat for a second term, Lalitha had been chosen as its president. Earlier, she had been an ASHA worker in the region, reports added.
