Govt school teacher arrested for sexually abusing student

A teacher of a government school in KR Pete Taluk was arrested on charges of sexually abusing a 9-year-old student.
The accused has been identified as K Chandrashekar.
The victim, a class 3 student alleged that the teacher had touched her inappropriately on March 31 after taking her to the toilet and had told her not to reveal the incident to anyone.
The incident came to light when the victim refused to go to school once it restarted after the holidays. Upon inquiry, she told her parents about the teacher’s actions.
Her parents immediately notified the school authorities and demanded action against the teacher. They even threatened to teach Chandrashekar a lesson by tying him to a pole if the school authorities failed to act against him. Following this, the school authorities suspended Chandrashekar.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the victim’s parents police arrested Chandrashekar and an investigation is ongoing.
