Hubballi: At least 8 killed, 27 injured in horrific bus-lorry collision

Hubballi: Eight people were killed and 27 others were seriously injured in a horrific collision between a private bus and a lorry on Monday night.
The accident occurred on the Hubli-Dharwad bypass near the Revadihala crossing.
The bus was ferrying passengers from Kohlapur to Bengaluru when it crashed into the lorry that was moving from Bengaluru to Pune. The bus driver tried to overtake a lorry and failed to notice the oncoming lorry, sources said.
Six, including the drivers of the ill-fated vehicles, were killed on the spot, while two others died later. Some of the deceased have been identified. Bus drivers Atavulla and Nagaraj, bus passengers Babsa Annasa Chaugule of Ichalakaranji and Babusaba of Chikkodi were among the deceased.
As many as 27 bus passengers, who were injured, are being treated at KIMS. The condition of some of them is serious, police sources said.
JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy expressed his condolences via a Twitter post.
