Duo cons govt employees posing as ACB police; arrested

Bengaluru: Two persons who cheated government employees in the guise of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths were arrested in Hassan on Friday.

Police said Murgappa Ningappa Kumbar (56) of Chikkodi and Rajani Kanth (46) of Muguli village in Sakleshpur have been arrested for duping government officials.

The duo, posing as a DySP of the ACB police, called public servants in the education department in the state threatened them with raids and demanded money for hushing the matter. The action was taken against the duo after government officials had lodged a complaint at the Vidhana Soudha Police station.

According to the police, Murgappa has 40 cases pending against him. The other accused Rajani Kanth had been dismissed from Police service and has 6 cases pending against him.
