Manipal: Orders have been issued for distributing textbooks to school children immediately, said Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters here at the Country Inn Hotel the CM said that he has directed the officials to make arrangements for distributing revised textbooks at the earliest.
Commenting on the Rajya Sabha polls scheduled for June 10, the CM evinced confidence that BJP may win the fourth seat from the state. Noting that BJP and JDS both have 32 votes and the fact that BJP has a majority over the second preference votes, BJP can win the fourth seat., he said.
“We get a simple majority when the second preference votes are counted. We have friends everywhere and that’s why we have fielded a third candidate.,” he said on fielding Lehar Singh as BJP’s third candidate at the last minute from Karnataka.
Further, the CM said that the police department will take care of the increasing number of ‘love jihad’ cases in the coastal districts.
