Mangaluru: Seven arrested for smuggling red sandalwood worth Rs 4.15 Cr

Mangaluru: In a major breakthrough, forest officials apprehended a gang involved in red sander smuggling in Kenchankere in Kilpadi village, Mangaluru on Wednesday.
The arrested accused have been identified as Aladi Rajesh Reddy, Anil Kumar, Paalraj, Dinesh Kumar, Kunhi Mohammed, Anil Kumar and Shameer S.
The 8308.04 kgs (9 tonnes approx) of sandalwood consignment, estimated to be worth Rs 4.15 crore was hidden under heaps of grass in the truck.
Police officials have also seized two vehicles from the accused.
Further investigations are underway.
