Mangaluru:  Police officials recovered an unidentified body from an abandoned well in Goods shed road, Mangaluru on Monday, June 6 morning.

It is said that the unidentified body was found by a man who runs a canteen nearby. In the morning, the man sensed a foul smell and decided to check his surroundings.

He later noticed the foul smell coming from an old ice factory nearby and found a body floating in an abandoned well in the compound.

The body was found to be of a man probably aged between 30 and 35 years. The police could not make out other features since the body was in an advanced state of decomposition.

The officials have suspected it to be a case of suicide. However, as the well was covered with an iron mesh, the officials are uncertain about his death.
