Belthangady: Youth crushed to death under lorry wheels

Belthangady: The hurry to overtake a vehicle claimed the life of a bike-borne youth here after he was crushed under the lorry wheels on Tuesday evening.

The incident took place at around 9.30 pm at Pandikatte on the Charmadi Ghat.

The deceased has been identified as Nazeer Meginamane (24) son of Ismail.

Nazeer, who worked as a lorry conductor, was on his bike towards his friend’s house when the mishap occurred. In a bid to overtake the lorry, Nazeer hit an oncoming motorbike, lost balance, and fell onto the road. Unfortunately, he came under the wheels of the truck, killing him on the spot.

Belthagady Traffic police visited the accident spot. The mortal remains were shifted to the mortuary at Belthangady Government Hospital.
